GERANIUMS, MARTHA WASHINGTON
Martha Washington geraniums, sometimes called Fancy, Hothouse or Pansy
geraniums, have large showy flowers with blotches or markings in the center
of the blossoms. Plants are usually marketed by florists, garden center
and nurseries between Easter and Mother's Day.
While the flowers and plants are more showy and spectacular than regular
zonal geraniums, they suffer severely when growing conditions are more
than 60 degrees F. during the day and less than 55 degrees F. at night.
Plants prefer bright, indirect light and a moist, well-drained soil.
Martha Washington geraniums are best enjoyed for as long as they bloom
and then discarded.
