Soil Acidity

Soil acidity may be determined by pressing a strip of blue litmus paper (obtained at any drug store)  inside a ball of moist soil. If the paper turns pink or  red the soil is acid or even sour, thus indicating that  a dressing of lime is needed. If no change occur the soil is either neutral or alkaline.
