POTPOURRI
Recipe 1:
2 cups dried rose petals 1 1/2 cups dried mix of lemon, verbena, evergreen
needles, lavender flowers and carnation petals 1 Tablespoon dry lemon peel
1 Tablespoon dry orange peel ** 1 Tablespoon orris root salt 5-10 drops
essential oil of choice
Mix daily and store in cardboard box for two (2) weeks in dark, cool
location. Fill sachets or net bags.
Recipe 2:
1/2 inch rose petals in jar Sprinkle lightly with salt Sprinkle with
1/4 teaspoon each: ground mace, cinnamon, orris root, cloves, allspice
1/2 inch layer of dried mint leaves, lavender flowers, citrus blossoms,
eucalyptus leaves, orange peels mixture.
Repeat. Mix and store in cardboard container. Stir daily.

Recipe 3:
1/2 cup lavender flowers/carnation petals 1 cup oak moss 1 cup rosemary
leaves 1 cup dried rose petals 1 cup juniper berries 1/2 cup sandalwood
chips 1 Tablespoon dried lemon peel 1 Tablespoon dried orange peel ** 2
Tablespoon orris root chips
Other flowers to mix in potpourri include: anmones, ageratum, azalea,
bachelor buttons, calendulas, celosia, scented geranium foliage, hibiscus,
hollyhock, hyacinths, lirope, marigolds, pansies, ranunculus (buttercups),
salvia, statice, stock, verbena, yarrow, and zinnia.
**Orris root is classified as a fixative (to keep color and fragrance
longer) and can be purchased in small quantities at most pharmacies and
drug stores. It is poisonous and should be handled with care.
