Butterfly Bush

Butterfly bush must not be pruned in the fall or it may be killed by the winter. The tops will probably  be winter-killed anyway, perhaps back to the ground.  In spring they should be cut at the ground level. New stems will develop rapidly and the bushes will bloom far more profusely than if any part of the stems are  left when the pruning is done.
